Reality television star Lauren Conrad has signed a three-book deal for a series of young adult fiction novels. Lauren has teamed up with publishers at Harper Collins for the series called L.A. Candy, which will be loosely based on her "transition from regular gal to a recognizable face." Conrad says, "I've always loved books that I could lose myself in, ones that would transport me to another place, but had characters I could relate to. I'm so excited to have this opportunity to write books like that for other readers." A spokesperson for Harper Collins insists the deal with Conrad is already creating waves in the literary world: "I've never seen a new project generate noise like the instant buzz that swept through our offices around this deal.
