Priyanka Chopra for Mani Ratnam's 'Ponniyin Selvan'?

Maverick director Mani Ratnam's on screen adaptation of Kalki's epic novel 'Ponniyin Selvan' is getting bigger and better. After making several films with elements of history or mythology, this time the ace director is is planning a full-fledged adaptation of the novel.

Vijay will play the courageous warrior Vallavarayan Vandiyatheyan and Mahesh Babu will play king Aditha Karikalan. Arya will be Arulmozhi Varman in this film, which has Anushka as Mahesh Babu’s younger sister and Vijay’s love interest. Now the latest buzz is that the director has approached Bollywood diva Priyanka Chopra to play a prominent role in the film.

'Ponniyin Selvan' is widely regarded as the greatest novel ever written in Tamil. It deals with the fortunes of the Chola empire during the 10th century. The story revolves around Vandiyathevan, a charming young man who comes to the Chola land to deliver a message from Crown Prince Aditya Karikalan.
