PAULA ABDUL STALKED FOR 17 YEARS

Paula Abdul

The very obsessed fan who committed suicide outside Paula Abdul's mansion last month stalked the American Idol star for almost 17 years. Paula Goodspeed took a suspected drug overdose in her car outside the gates of Abdul's Sherman Oaks, Calif., estate on November 11th. Paula reveals her tragic death ended an almost two decades long campaign that developed into a fearful obsession when Abdul landed a job on the hit television talent show in 2002. Speaking on "The View" today, the 45-year-old pop star says, "She has been a stalker/fan for about 17 years now. It wasn't until 'American Idol' that she ever knew how she could get to me. Prior to that it was all through a fan club. "Because of 'American Idol,' I've been an open target to be followed home. So the last five years have been a little tough for me." In a separate interview the singer confirms rumors she has been too scared to return to the home, which she is now selling.
Abdul told People.com, "I've been staying in different homes and hotels, and I have security with me."
